Just wanted to highlight the iNum service that's run by Voxbone. The idea is that all VoIP numbers should be something like +883 just like having their own country code. It's starting off as all +883 calls to each other will be free and once critical mass has been achieved; calls from the PSTN to +883 will be set up. This is a common problem where SIP signalling over port 5060 (default) crosses a Firewall ok but the Voice element (RTP) is being blocked. You need to check your Firewall settings here to see if RTP packets are being dropped or use Symmetric RTP.

As well, bad gateways would cause this issue since the RTP stream would be sent to the wrong gateway. You could also be using ptimes at each location that the other guy doesn't support. Normally the call will drop but I've seen certain ones simply ignore the RTP coming into them.

A client in the boonies wants ~400 SIP trunks. My company would prefer to provide transport for another company's SIP service rather than manage it ourselves. Verizon will do it end-to-end but can't service the client's current numbers. Level 3 can service the current numbers but will require us to buy and manage a gateway because they won't work with the client's Nortel PBX. What's the fastest way to find a list of every company that can provide service for a given range of numbers?

Yes, and work fine.
I have many experiences with quantum gateways and different IPPBX, do you need enable G711 and disable CNG and VAD

Hi there.. Just wanted to point out (if you haven't noticed) the Google ads on the left side of the page have now gone. We were not too happy about them being there so we got them removed. A quick question to you is ... Does the presence of Ads on a website effect the way you use the site? Thanks.

As long as the ads are not obtrusive I do not mind. If they pop up over what I am trying to do or force me to to view them before doing what I want to I am likely to leave the site.

What are your thoughts on 'Hosted' or Virtual VoIP?
There are a lot of companies out there offering hosted VoIP services and I wanted to know do you trust Hosted VoIP? Are you ready to let go of your PBX? Are you ready to let go of some features? as a lot of these companies don't have all the features of a 'business class' PBX.
We've used Voipfone in the past (in the UK) and never had any problems with their hosted service and now 'onsip' looks to shake things up even more - check out the new page on the menu 'SIP and Hosted VoIP'
